“They Mocked My Skin, I Hid My Dreams. Today, I’m on Camera Living Them”: Anushka Ghosh’s Brave Leap from Nurse to Model

Kolkata : From the hospital floors of Durgapur to the bright lights of Kolkata, Anushka Ghosh’s journey is nothing short of cinematic.

Born in Malda, Anushka was a bright student and was often told she had a voice that could mesmerize. Her dreams once revolved around music and teaching. But life, as it does for many small-town girls, had other plans. In the confusion of the pandemic, she stepped into nursing—a career she barely knew and never truly chose.

“Six to seven hours of standing with nerve pain, no time for myself, no mental peace. I was breaking silently,” she says.

What hurt more were the whispers and taunts about her dusky complexion. “They said I wasn’t pretty enough, that I should stay behind the curtain, not under the spotlight.”

But destiny had something else in store. One day, while performing as Bhanu Bandyopadhyay in a local program, Anushka felt something shift. “The moment I stepped on that stage, it felt like the real me had finally woken up.”

What followed were four years of silent dreaming—days spent tending to patients, nights spent wishing for auditions. And finally, a decision that changed everything. She left nursing behind and moved to Kolkata to chase her forgotten passion: acting and modeling.

Today, Anushka is no longer hiding. She is stepping into the limelight with pride.

“I’m finally living. I’m no longer scared. This is who I am meant to be,” she says.

From Malda to Kolkata, from rejection to recognition, Anushka Ghosh’s story is a powerful reminder that when you stop hiding and start believing, even the darkest past can lead to the brightest spotlight.
