Bhubaneswar: Dr. Nandiki Gangadhar Reddy, Founder and CEO of Dongyue India, has outlined an ambitious vision to introduce next-generation stone coated metal roofing solutions to India’s rapidly evolving construction market.
The initiative follows a strategic cooperation between Dongyue India and Dongyue Machinery Group of China to expand the availability of premium stone coated roof tiles across India.
According to Dr. Reddy, the Indian roofing market is increasingly looking for products that deliver more than basic weather protection.
“Modern roofing has to perform multiple functions. It should provide architectural beauty, structural strength, durability and improved comfort while offering value over its service life,” said Dr. Reddy.
Dongyue’s stone coated roofing system is manufactured using Galvalume steel as the base sheet. The sheets are profiled into specific shapes to enhance rigidity and strength, while the stone-coated surface provides the distinctive appearance associated with premium roof tiles.
The combination is designed to provide the visual appeal of traditional tile roofing while retaining the advantages of lightweight formed metal roofing.
Thermal performance is expected to be an important consideration for the Indian market.
India experiences high temperatures across many regions, particularly during summer. According to Dr. Reddy, roofing materials that can contribute to improved thermal comfort can have significant relevance for Indian homes and villas.
The stone coated roofing systems are also positioned to offer benefits relating to noise reduction, heat resistance and fire-related performance, making them suitable for customers seeking a more comprehensive roofing solution.
Dongyue’s roofing range is expected to provide extensive design flexibility. The company plans to offer designs including Roman, Shingle, Bond, Classic, Milano and Wood-style profiles.
A broad selection of colours and combinations will allow architects, homeowners and developers to match roofing with different architectural styles.
Dr. Reddy said the products are designed with a minimum expected service life of around 30 years, subject to appropriate installation, maintenance and local environmental conditions.
The company’s Indian strategy will extend beyond product sales. Dongyue India will function as the principal stockist and distributor and plans to establish an Experience Centre-cum-Demonstration House.
The centre will also support short-term technical training for fabrication and installation teams, helping them understand the correct methods of fixing stone coated roof tiles in different roof structures and architectural applications.
Dr. Reddy said this integrated approach would be essential for building customer confidence in a relatively new premium roofing category.
With the combination of product technology, design variety, distribution and technical support, Dongyue India aims to establish itself as a significant player in India’s emerging stone coated roofing solutions market.
